What is Myofascial Release (MFR)? Myofascial release is a hands on bodywork technique that is different from traditional massage therapy. It uses a gentle, sustained dynamic pressure on the body to reach into the continuous three-dimensional web of connective tissue, called fascia. This pressure, held over a period of time (at least 3 to 5 minutes), can reduce pain and facilitate longer lasting, gentle shifts on all levels of your being by relaxing the nervous system and releasing adhesions and restrictions within the fascial web. When restrictions in the fascia are released and rehydrated, the body can shift into a more neutral alignment as physical and emotional holding patterns are changed, and pressure on pain sensitive structures are eased. Pain levels can subside, emotional stress and tension can be reduced, tightness can be alleviated, and your range of motion can improve. Myofascial release works by addressing underlying causes of these restrictions. Craniosacral therapy, massage cupping, visceral manipulation, vibroacoustic sound therapy, and therapeutic massage are other modalities that are frequently woven into your treatment to further enhance your session. Infuse your life with flexibility, fluidity and mobility!
As the fascia softens over time, the prolonged sustained pressure your myofascial release therapist is using follows this tissue release into an opening and lengthening. The result is reduced pain and increased mobility, all without forcing or causing injury to your body. There is no rigid protocol for treatment. Each session is different, and based on what your body presents in the moment.
*Please do not apply body lotion/oil on treatment day. *Wear loose fitting shorts and a bra for your evaluation and treatment. *Avoid wearing perfume and/or smoking before your session.
As a solo small business owner in an industry built around relaxation and creating peacefulness, it can be easy to overlook the necessity of having a clearly defined set rules in place to navigate cancellations/no shows/late arrivals. In order to cultivate clarity, and ultimately a sense of ease and peace, it is important to create this reminder of SWCC’s policies:
CANCELLATION POLICY A 24 hour notice is required to change/cancel an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may be required to pay a cancellation fee of 50% of the session fee. Last minute cancellations or no call/ no shows will be responsible for the full session fee payable before rescheduling future appointments. This also applies to appointments redeeming gift certificates: no call/no show and last minute cancellations will be applied thereby redeeming the gift certificate, or late cancellations will have half session fee deducted from the gift certificate balance, with balance being due upon usage of gc. LATE ARRIVALS: Time is not extended for late arrivals!!! Sessions finish on time, and the full fee for the duration of the appointment scheduled will be due. Price will not be reduced for a shortened session due to late arrival.!!! For example, arriving 15 or 30 minutes late for an appointment booked as 90 minutes still requires full payment for the 90 minute session.
